What to Look For in a New Bathtub
When you realize that your bathtub is beyond repair with nicks and scratches, you will have to consider purchasing a new bathtub. While this may be a decision that causes some concern because of budget constraints, it certainly won't be the only decision you have to make. This is because of the many bathtub designs that are available on the market. The choice of tub does depend on the style you want to achieve in the bathroom. Cast iron tubs are making a comeback, but you do have to be careful. These tubs are extremely heavy, not only for lifting, but also in the weight they place on the floor. Most of the bathtubs on the market, though, are of man made materials, such as acrylic, glass-reinformed plastic or enameled pressed steel. They are lightweight, but it would take two people to carry the steel tub. The acrylic and glass-reinformed plastic tubs do not respond well to cleaning with bleach or abrasive cleaners. Corner style tubs are also very popular. These are usually jetted tubs with headrests so you can have a luxurious soak. You do have to look at the size of your bathroom if this is the tub you want because they take up more space than a regular rectangular shoed tub. You can also get the rectangular shaped tubs with jets and in sizes large enough for two people. Round bathtubs also look great in the center of a large bathroom. If you do not have a lot of space and do want a luxury tub, take a look at the Japanese soaker tubs. What these tubs lose in length they make up for in depth so it is quite easy to sit in the tub and take a long relaxing soak.
